It is my pleasure to welcome you to our school website which I hope gives you the essential school information you seek as well as an insight into the happy, vibrant and productive life of Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire.
Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire has been serving the town of Ardee since 1956 and our dedicated staff and Board of Management continuously work to build on our excellent reputation and caring ethos. Our school became co-educational in 2022 when both boys and girls started in Junior Infants for the first time. Prior to 2022 we were an all-girls’ school. In September 2025 we have boys and girls in Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st Class and 2nd Class and we will grow year on year to become fully co-educational in all classes by 2029. I am proud to say that co-education has been highly successful and popular and our enrolment has grown steadily resulting in 339 pupils on roll in September 2025.
It is with immense pride that I carry out my duties as Principal and I am always extremely grateful for the hard work and support of our parents, pupils, staff, Board of Management and Parents’ Association and the wider community who make Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire the unique and welcoming school that it is. In our school you will find happy children supported by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff. Our school ethos is centred on care, respect and joy and visitors to our school always comment on the warm, friendly atmosphere in our school.
Our website will give you a flavour of the many activities we undertake to develop the intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and emotional well-being of our pupils. Our excellent teaching standards, caring ethos, wonderful facilities (including our new school field and playground facilities) provide the perfect environment for your son or daughter to learn and thrive.
You are welcome to contact us to arrange a personal school visit where you can tour our school and see our staff and pupils working together on a normal school day.
Enjoy our website! Bainigí taitneamh as!
Le gach dea-ghuí,
Deirdre Sweeney, Principal
