Music

Music

There is a very strong tradition of music in our school. Our school choir is formed from 3rd-6th classes. They sing at school events and gatherings. At Christmas they visit the residents of Moorehall Lodge and Ardee Day Care Centre and perform for them.

Our choir takes part in Peace Proms each year when they sing with the Cross-Border Orchestra in a musical extravaganza in the RDS or the SSE Arena, Belfast, which incorporates very lively songs from ABBA to the latest chart hits. Many parents join with us on the evening for this extremely enjoyable and memorable event.

Our school has very strong links with Music Generation Louth.

Our younger pupils (Infants-1st Class) love their “Music Matters” classes with specialist musician, Clare. Music Matters focuses on early musical literacy, developing their natural ability through singing and games.

Our older pupils learn to play the recorder (2nd-6th Class) with music specialist, Micheál Gaskin. We enjoy lots of recitals from our recorder groups who can play tunes form Christy Moore, to the Titanic theme song and even Sabrina Carpenter songs!

Drama & Assemblies

We have a wonderful school hall, stage and sound and lighting system. This affords us the opportunity to produce wonderful Christmas plays, performances and end of year musicals every year.

We hold a monthly assembly and each class takes a turn at presenting assembly. Our pupils look forward to the monthly assembly when we give out Teacher Awards and Principal’s Awards.
