We are super excited to announce that our school has been chosen by the office of the Children's Ombudsman to be an Ambassador School for 2025/2026. Only 3 schools in Ireland have been chosen, two primary schools and one secondary school. Our 6th Classes and our new Student Council will lead us in this programme.
The programme will involve the following:
Visit 1: The Ombudsman for Children's team will visit our school to meet our School Ambassadors for an introduction on the work of the Office and for a workshop on Children’s Rights.
Visit 2: Our School Ambassadors will attend Child Talks 2025 at the Helix, DCU on World Children’s Day, November 20th.
Visit 3: The Ombudsman for Children, Dr Niall Muldoon will make a special visit to our school!!
Visit 4: The OCO team will return to our school before school end June 2026 to present our OCO School Ambassadors Certificate
What our Ambassadors will do:
- They will create rights based activities in our classrooms. For example, this could be through artwork of our favourite right, writing a poem or rap about our favourite right or doing a story competition.
- They will share our voices and opinions on topics on the Ombudsman's social media channels.
- They will create content for social media around important days like World Children’s Day, Seachtain na Gaeilge, Mental Health Week and International Day of Disabilities.
